Biz Markie got his flowers at the 2021 Primetime Emmy Awards.

On Sunday, the 73rd annual ceremony, hosted by Cedric The Entertainer, paid a surprise tribute to the late rapper --- who passed away back in July at just 57 years old. Cedric, along with LL Cool J, Lil Dicky and actress Rita Wilson took the stage at the start of the show to perform their own rendition of Biz' "Just A Friend".

As the star studded audience, including Tracee Ellis Ross, Anthony Anderson and Mandy Moore, rocked along to the Cedric and Dicky's TV-inspired bars, Rita Wilson grabbed the mic to show off her unexpected rap skills.

Kaley Cuoco, Sterling K. Brown, Billy Porter and the rest of the crowd joined in to sing along to Biz' infamous hook in the epic award show moment.

"TV, you got what I need. But you say he's just a friend, but you say he's just a friend."

This year's Emmy ceremony was a bit more intimate than previous years, due to the COVID- 19 pandemic. Moved from it's original home inside the Microsoft theater in Los Angeles, the show took place in an outdoor tent directly behind the venue where a limited audience was seated at tables. -- and all attendees were asked to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19. Host Cedric said ahead of the show:

“[The Emmys] started to have this feeling like people aren’t really invited in the room. We all do a job here. Some people have more serious dramatic shows that are fun and interesting to watch. And some people have veg-out, “sit down and relax” television. Let’s take the judgment out. That’s what I want to do.”
