With spooky season in full swing, it looks like the movie options are growing.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sam Richardson is in the final negotiation stages of starring in Hocus Pocus 2, a follow-up to the 1993 Halloween cult classic.

The sequel is already in production and is set to premiere on Disney+ next year. The new story line will feature the original Sanderson sisters –– Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy –– who are accidentally re-summoned to modern-day Salem, Massachusetts. In the original, the three witch sisters arrive in the town and are set on becoming immortal, now they're back –– but things are different.

Richardson has played in the hit series Veep and Ted Lasso, and most recently starred alongside Chris Pratt in the Amazon Prime Original The Tomorrow War. The Detroit native is no stranger to horror-comedies, after playing in the 2021 film Werewolves Within released earlier this year.

It's not clear what role the Screen Actors Guild-nominee will have in the Hocus Pocus sequel, but fans of the film are excited. Disney is also reportedly getting Tiffany Haddish and Lakeith Stanfield on board for a remake of The Haunted Mansion.

In the meantime, the original of both films are streaming on Disney+.

Here's a look at a mini-reunion of the Sanderson sisters last year.
