When the world turns its attention to Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo for the 2026 Winter Olympics, Black excellence will be on display across the ice, snow, and track.
From Africa and the Caribbean to Europe and Canada, Black athletes are representing their countries in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, bobsleigh, speed skating, skeleton, and ice hockey. Some are returning Olympians. Others are making history as firsts for their nations. All earned their place through international qualification and elite competition.
This year’s Winter Games feature a global lineup of Black athletes competing under flags that don’t often get centered in winter sport conversations — from Nigeria and Benin to Haiti, Jamaica, Madagascar, France, Great Britain, and Canada.
Here’s a look at the Black athletes competing at the 2026 Winter Olympics — outside of Team USA — and the sports they’re bringing to the world stage.
